Internet Promotion

the internet promotion list

1. Pay per click

2. SEO work on the web pages and submissions
3. Facebook

4. Twitter

5. Google Places
6. YouTube
7. Blogs

Google places

You can enhance a business listing in the google search results or google maps area.
you can add website address, description, pictures and videos.

I suggest this and it makes your listing stand out when you have videos on it.

You find the listing, get to the details, then edit it and tell it to verify calling the the business number. the phone call goes out immediately and then the client has to give you the authorization code that you plug into the area where you edited the description.

Selling video content online

Places to sell video online in a pay per view or digital download situation:

iTunes
- hook up with aggregator like http://www.newvideo.com/
email them or call and see what happens
newvideo.com responded to my email enquiry within days, but they felt my DVD
would not get enough sales to meet their minimum sales figures.

Amazon
apply online via createspace.com and send off your material to them in the mail.
I got an email back within days(aug 3rd) saying
Our normal setup times are as follows:

DVD source copy - 10 business days from receipt of all necessary materials including artwork.
Amazon Video On Demand - 60 days.

This company seems very responsive. All the others seems to keep you out of the loop just waiting and waiting.

You need to have your DVD in this format: under 4.7GB and fits on a single layer DVD. If you have a dual layer DVD or it is over 4.7 GB then google "DVD Shrink"

YouTube

you can sell your video content online at youtube.com/store as a youtube video
but with DRM. You can have customers buy or rent it. I rented 3:10 to Yuma for 1.99. I think that is going to the future. Yes, you can also do google revenue partnerships, but that is based on people clicking or viewing ads next to your video. Here I am talking about selling your video for a price, nothing to do with ads.

- apply online and wait..and wait...and wait

How to make money on Youtube videos

This video makes money in the following ways:

1. Revenue sharing with Youtube ads shown on and beside the video
2. Google adsense revenue on the web sites listed on the description on the video
3. Licensing the video to cable and TV programs that want to re-air the video

How do you earn money from a Youtube video?

First of all make SHORT! people have no attention spans at all. 1 minute is about right.

Second you have to be a bit crazy or funny or unusual so it will be forwarded from friend to friend.

Third
Check your email and youtube messages for invitations to "revenue share" with Youtube. Check your email and youtube for people who want to license your video.

Fourth
Build a web site and put the link in the video description. On that web site you can sell things or put in adsense ads or amazon links.

Viral Marketing: How to go viral with a video

1. Make it short: 1 minute is ideal

2. Put it on YouTube and put a link to a page you build specifically for that video.
Put the link at the very top of the video description

3. Put credits at the end that mentions your web site.

4. Make the video funny and or extreme.

5. Do not disable comments.. half of the fun of your video for viewers is reading the stupid comment people put on there.

6. Go ahead and sell your video or give companies the rights to use your video on television and cable. Once you go viral they will send an email to you.

7. Post the video wherever you can. Bulletin boards, blogs, facebook and Reddit.

8. One you start getting alot of views, most likely you will get an email from youtube offering you to do a revenue share deal with you. Do it. You can easily earn $100/day off a video that goes viral. Also, google owns youtube so it is in google's best interest for your viral video with advertising to be places prominently in the search engines.

9. Make sure that you own everything in the video including:
Graphics and pictures (including photographs and artwork)
Movie or TV visuals
Video game or software visuals
Performances (including concerts, events, and shows)
Music (including lyrics, cover songs and background music)
If you do not own everything in the video, you will run into copyright issues that will stop your video from going viral, hamper your ability to get it on television, block the ability to earn revenue from it and possibly cause you legal problems.
10. Keep in mind that if you do google adsense, you may see an increase in you adsense revenue immediately.. but don't be confused.. this revenue from "other than youtube" revenue like ads and web pages and such. Your youtube review will show no data for 30 to 60 days. So you won't know how much money you are earning until 60 to 90 days after your youtube video starts showing ads.
11. You should check around youtube periodically since people will grab your video and reupload it to their youtube as if it is theirs. You can go to their video and flag it as being a violation of your copyright.

example of a viral video that got more than 400,000 views in several weeks time.
The ads displayed generate revenue and the video was licensed to MTV Live Canada and G4's Web Soup cable show.

IT department and web sites

The IT department is usually the biggest roadblock to having a successful web site.

Since they are left brained, they have no sense of style or taste. They have no idea about marketing.

They limit your access, make things more difficult to do and usually because they are far from being experts at managing a web site.

It is about control, empire building, and security concerns with no expertise on how to deal with those concerns.

Anyway, the big fight is between marketing and IT for control of the web site. If you want to hire an outside company to do your web site, let them handle everything. IT will make you pay more, get less and in general be a monkey wrench in the works.

Google and centralized computing

Google is awesome. they understand the web, not sure I can say the same about microsoft and lots of other companies.

I have alot of blogs, emails etc on google. Just remember one thing about that though. It has happened to me a couple of times, that google decides there is something they don't like on one of the blogs and Poof, they shut it down. If you have not backed up the files, they are gone gone gone. You can't just pick up the phone and reason with them, ask them why the killed it and tell them if they might be wrong about what they think...so anyway, the google stuff is on their servers and they can basically pull the plug anytime they want. Just keep that in mind.

infranet shopping cart

Not recommended.

I used it several times. Once the client got frustrated with the service and once the shopping cart people went direct with the client and cut me out of the deal even though they were a "trusted" subcontractor.

It isn't widely used so you get stuck in a shopping cart that is very uncommon.
